“We’re all doomed!” – Part 1

2008 November 27

In a bid to steal a march on City’s doom-mongers, Roy Greenslade, Chris Brauer et al, I thought I’d post about the 50 jobs that are to go at the Telegraph Media Group.

In a letter to staff this week, the TMG chief executive, Murdoch MacLennan, described the current economic climate as “the most serious recession in our lifetimes”, adding that every business in the country was being affected.

“It is perhaps being felt more acutely in the media where we are having to weather not just the general economic storm but the double hit of falling advertising revenues ad vastly increased newsprint prices, at the same time as we deal with major structural change in the industry,” MacLennan told staff.

To quote Private Frazer from Dad’s Army, “we’re all doomed, doomed I tell you!”

Looking at the current economic situation, this might have to become a regular feature on here.

(If there is any positive journalistic news – we can dream – I could resort to putting up a pic of Clive Dunn).

“Don’t Panic…”

Hi Private Fraser! That’s so funny. I had never seen you blog before, honestly!
Though shouldn’t it be spelled Frazer?
